Hewitt Principal Liz Pryke has been piloting a new literacy program for students in all grade levels. The goal of this endeavor that she’s calling “Book of the Season,” is to promote a love of reading within Hewitt’s community of learners.

A mother of four from Garden City ,and formerly of Rockville Centre, has been arrested after paying $20,000 to a person she thought was a hit man to kill her husband, according to Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice. The “hit man,” Rice said, was actually an undercover Nassau County police detective.
