The Lawrence Association has long had free use of the Clubhouse meeting room at the Lawrence Village Country Club for its monthly meetings, but that may soon change. The Lawrence Village Board of Trustees voted to institute new fees for use of the Clubhouse at its Dec. 10th session, and later denied a request to wave the expense for the civic group's Dec. 16th meeting.

For the first time in more than 15 years, Ronald Goldman will not have the title of Lawrence village attorney. Goldman submitted a letter of resignation on Nov. 30 and the Lawrence village Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire lifelong Rockville Centre resident A. Thomas Levin as the municipality's new village attorney during its Dec. 10th meeting.

Four years after getting the green light to expand its synagogue in a residential Lawrence neighborhood, Congregation Bais Medrash of Harborview still has plenty of work left to do, and has now run into trouble with neighbors after construction of the building went beyond variances granted by the village Board of Zoning Appeals.
