Tech-savvy teens tutor seniors

A group of technically talented teens put their gadget mastery to good use at the Baldwin Public Library on March 2, tutoring a gathering of seniors on the proper use of their gizmos and gear. A half dozen young people between ages 11 and 17 showed up early to enjoy pizza in the community room before their more mature clients began peppering them with questions. more

The Baldwin Lions met up with a Korean culture group on January 30th for a meal and some lessons on Korea. The event took place at the Baldwin Public Library.

Lions have Koreans for lunch

The Baldwin lions hosted a Korean culture event on January 30th at the public library. Ms. Kyung Won Pak, director of the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project, contacted Lions president Dianne Cattrano and suggested a get together. Intrigued by the idea, Cattrano contacted the library and the project began picking up steam. more

Dejkameh’s work explores cross cultural themes — not surprising for a woman of her varied background. Dejkameh, who is pursing a degree in creative arts therapy at Hofstra, hopes to help others find a restorative outlet through art. In addition to her painting, the artist works at New Visions Elementary School in Freeport.

The Air at the BPL — which was closed during an air purity scare last week — has since been tested three times. No danger has been found and the library is now operating normally.
