I had been pedaling for an hour and a half when I stopped cold. The view, quite simply, stunned me. An engineer has completed a draft study on the feasibility of a public takeover of Long Island American Water, the water utility company that services the area, but the public has yet to see the document. more
With new funds in place, the Water Authority of Southeastern Nassau County will continue to explore a public takeover of Aqua New York. The Towns of Hempstead and Oyster Bay recently contributed a total of $75,000 to the authority, which was in addition to the $15,000 in seed money that the towns originally contributed when the authority was reinstituted in late 2010. more
Slowly but surely, the Southeastern Nassau County Water Authority is taking steps to investigate the feasibility of creating a public water district for the Bellmore-Merrick area and beyond. The recently reinstated board convened for the second time at a public meeting on Wednesday. more
