A 6-year-old boy was injured at the annual Kids’ Fest open house last Saturday when he was hit by a canopy blown about by gusts from a helicopter landing in the Recreation Center parking lot.

Several hundred members of the Rockville Centre Soccer Club participated in the annual Kids Helping Kids free summer program at Skelos Sports Complex that wrapped up last week. As parents watched and visited with each other on the sidelines, teenage players worked with and taught younger players from 4-8 years old, four nights a week, for two weeks at the end of July. The older players helped their younger counterparts develop their skills in an atmosphere that this year’s organizer, Jen Kahn, described as low-key, relaxed and fun.
