The Baldwin High School Class of 2026 celebrated the culmination of four years of academic achievement, personal growth and perseverance June 26 during the school's 118th annual commencement ceremony.

Surrounded by family members, friends, teachers and district leaders, more than 300 seniors received their diplomas and officially joined the ranks of Baldwin High School alumni. The ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter as graduates prepared to attend colleges and universities across the country, enter the workforce, enlist in the military and pursue technical and vocational careers.

Senior Class President Evan Chan presided over the ceremony, while salutatorian Rose Altschuler and valedictorian Luna Questelles reflected on the experiences, friendships and lessons that defined the Class of 2026. Superintendent Anthony Mignella, Board of Education President Pamela Green and former Principal Neil Testa also addressed graduates, encouraging them to carry the values they developed at Baldwin High School into the next stage of their lives. Testa formally presented the class for graduation before members of the Board of Education awarded diplomas.

The Class of 2026 distinguished itself both inside and outside the classroom. Graduates earned recognition through numerous honor societies and academic programs, including the National Honor Society, AP Capstone, Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Business Honor Society and the New York State Seal of Biliteracy. Students graduating in the top 5 percent and top 10 percent of the class were also recognized for their academic excellence.

The commencement ceremony also highlighted the many scholarships and awards earned by members of the graduating class. Students received honors from local civic organizations, businesses, community groups, elected officials and Baldwin High School departments in recognition of excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, community service, music, the arts and career and technical education.

Questelles, this year's valedictorian, was among the graduates receiving multiple academic distinctions, while Altschuler, the salutatorian, was recognized for her scholarship and leadership. Numerous students also earned Advanced Placement Scholar honors and New York State Scholarships for Academic Excellence, reflecting the class's strong academic performance.

As graduates turned their tassels and celebrated with classmates and loved ones, they closed one chapter while looking ahead to new opportunities. Though their paths will soon lead in different directions, members of the Class of 2026 leave Baldwin High School with the shared experiences, friendships and foundation that will connect them long after commencement day.
