One of the most recognizable properties in Baldwin has been sold. After 35 years under owner William Ferguson, the stately Coral House on Milburn Lake has been sold to entrepreneur Butch Yamali, president of the Dover Group.

Yamali, who began his business career with a single ice cream truck in Nassau County, said last week that he was thrilled to acquire Baldwin’s signature property, and that he planned to keep the Coral House largely unchanged. “There are hundreds of parties that are already booked, and we’re excited to give all of those the same expert and personalized attention that we do for all the events we cater,” Yamali said. He also announced that while his group plans to update a few of the Coral House’s facilities, the current staff of 70 will be kept on.

The acquisition of the Coral House is only the latest in a number of deals by the ambitious Dover Group. The company also acquired the Sands in Lido Beach and renovated the Malibu Club earlier this year. It also owns the MaliBlue Oyster Bar, Quick Snack Vending, Carnival Ice Cream and Dover Caterers.
