Hempstead Town Deputy Supervisor Dorothy Goosby, center, hosted her 22nd annual Kwanzaa celebration on Dec. 15 at Hempstead Town Hall.
Recognized at the event were Albie Douglas, artist/photographer with Launched Manchild Enterprises in Hempstead holding the Kuumba Award; Dr. Deborah Wortham, Superintendent of the Roosevelt School District holding the Kujichagulia Award; Wayne Miles, President of the Baldwin Oaks Civic Association holding the Nia Award; and Bishop Norman Lyons, Jr., founder of the Foundation of Life Church in Uniondale holding the Imani Award.
