Families got an up-close look at emergency vehicles and work trucks during Stew Leonard’s Touch-A-Truck event on Oct. 3.
Held in the store’s parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event featured the fire department vehicles, emergency medical services and Town of Hempstead work trucks.
Touch-A-Truck events give children a chance to explore vehicles they might otherwise see only on the road or responding to emergencies. By climbing aboard and taking a closer look, youngsters can learn about the trucks and equipment that help keep their communities safe and running.
The afternoon also featured appearances by characters from “PAW Patrol,” adding a familiar connection for young fans of the animated rescue team. Stew Leonard’s mascot, WOW the Cow, hosted the event, which invited families to explore the trucks and grab a bite to eat.
