The East Meadow Parent Teacher Association Council and PTAs from the East Meadow school district community celebrated Founders Day on April 27. Founders Day commemorates the founding of the PTA and recognizes those who make the PTA and its activities possible.

The affair took place at the Fox Hollow in Woodbury.

Representatives of each of East Meadow’s schools attended the event, along with the district’s central administration. Those who were honored were brought up to the podium to light a candle to signify all they do for the children in each school community, and in East Meadow and Salisbury in general. Honorees included PTA members as well as district staff that keep the school district thriving.

This year’s honorees from school PTAs included Harriet Alfano, Erica Bod, and Lesley Perullo of Barnum Woods; Vee Perlman, Brenda Rivas and Jean Taliana of Bowling Green; Kristen Anderson, Drew Genoino and Jill Mallilo of East Meadow High School; Neide Eira, Julie Leake and Andrew Vardakis of McVey; Timothy Bellotti, Michael Menstasti and Christopher Pellettieri of Meadowbrook; Sini Susen Jablonski, Kelly Smith and Suzanne Tennenbaum or Parkway; Kathleen Hannan, Mariantoinnete Morello and Randi Madison of the SEPTA; Dan Buckley, Gregory Greco and June Olivares of Clarke Middle School; Allyson Benowitz, Darlene Beovich and Timothy Voels of Clarke High School; and Jeanette Bendetto, Kristi Detor and Allison Vardakis of Woodland Middle School.

The PTA Council recognizes the good work of all of the school’s PTA’s throughout the years, knowing the focus is always on the community’s children.
