Dream Street Caterers are East Meadow Farms division champs

Posted

The East Meadow Baseball Farm’s Division team, “Dream Street Caterers” finished off their season on Saturday, June 12 by winning their final game and becoming the 2010 Farms Division Champions.

The team, managed by Stew MacKay and coached by Mike Halkitis and the owner of “Dream Street Caterers” Joe Monteleone, had a regular season that consisted of 12 games, with two more added on for the playoffs and championship.

MacKay, who is also the league President of East Meadow Baseball/Softball Association, feels that this team is special because they were a “true draft” team, meaning all the players were picked at random before the season. Because of the circumstances, success was unlikely, but they were able to come together as a team and complete an undefeated season of 14-0, the coach said.

“There are rare times that a special group of young men come together, and when the training, talent, and chemistry all come together, and click,” said MacKay.

MacKay said wants his team to savor the experience and success of the season. He said the team earned the right through dedication and hard work to become champions of their division.

Members of the champion Dream Street Caterers team are: Matthew MacKay, Mike Halkitis, Joe Monteleone, Brian Walsh, Camilo Gonzalez, Eric Bernstein, Jack Pasquiera, Jason Giannatasio, John McGrath, John Paul (J.P.) Kwarta, Tyler Hackert and Tyler Love.
