E. Meadow resident faces DWI, weapons charges

An East Meadow man was faces DWI charges, among others, after being stopped on the Southern State Parkway by state troopers on April 17.
   
On April 17 at about 9:08 p.m., a trooper stopped a white Honda Prelude on the westbound side of the Southern State Parkway near Meadowbrook Parkway for following too closely and failing to signal, police said.
   
According to state police, the driver, Timothy Bartling, 28, of East Meadow, displayed obvious signs of intoxication as he was interviewed. Police said the trooper also observed a wood and metal "billy club" next to the driver's seat, and a hypodermic needle next to the vehicle's center console.

   
The defendant was charged with DWI, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle and vehicle and traffic violations, police said. Also, according to court records, Bartling also had an active bench warrant for his arrest from the Nassau Police Department on unrelated charges.
