East Meadow Fire Department sends love to colleagues overseas

Volunteers send care packages to members serving in military

Posted

Fire Chief Thomas Tergesen and members of the East Meadow Fire Department recently sent items to their fellow members who are now overseas.

The four members overseas, Thomas Hind, Brian McGee, Jon Romero, and James McEinery all will receive packages that were sent out last Friday afternoon by the fire department.

Tergesen and fellow firefighter John McGee, whose brother Brian is overseas, went shopping on Friday to BJ’s and Modell’s Sporting Goods. They bought items that were personally recommended by some of the soldiers like health bars, coffee and hard candy. They also sent the soldiers items to keep their minds off of everything, like magazines and footballs.

Although this is not the first time the East Meadow Fire Department has helped Nassau County firefighters who are overseas, this is the first time they did it specifically for their fellow East Meadow firefighters.
