Friends, family and allies alike came out on June 11 to participate in the inaugural ‘PrideFest’ grass volleyball tournament hosted by Volleyball Long Island and PFY, formerly Pride for Youth, a division of the Long Island Crisis Center whose mission is to enhance the health and wellness of the LGBTQ+ community.
186 players showed their skills at Eisenhower Park at the event that was originally supposed to take place in 2020, and helped raise about 5,000 dollars for PFY.
“From beginning to end, there was an excitement to ‘PrideFest’ that made it feel more special than any other tournament we’ve hosted in the last 16 years,” Glenn Yankow, founder of and managing director of VBLI said in a statement. “After three years of planning, the entire occasion was everything we dreamed of.”
