Have your bus passes ready

Posted

Bus drivers began checking bus passes for both the elementary and secondary schools on Tuesday. All students taking school transportation must present their passes to board the bus.

The district also reminds parents to address problems or concerns to the Transportation Department by calling (516) 478-5771. Parents are advised not to get into a discourse or make special requests of the bus drivers.

Rock on!

The annual Hurricane Concert was held in the auditorium. Teachers Tom Abruscato, Tim O’Malley and Lou Megna performed several classic rock ‘n’ roll songs. The show also featured a student group, consisting of Joe Livermore, Carl Grgas, Jon, Maxant, and Katie Kosiba. All proceeds will be divided among four scholarship foundations and the American Red Cross.

Adapting to differences

Teachers and administrators from Barnum Woods Elementary School presented a form of teaching known as differentiated instruction on Oct. 7 at the East Meadow Board of Education Communications session. This kind of instruction focuses on teaching while keeping student differences in mind by emphasizing responsiveness than a one-size-fits-all approach.
