Valentine’s Day cupcake wars

On Friday Feb. 14, students in grades 6-12 are encouraged to come to the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library for Valentine’s Day cupcake wars at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required. Contact: Librarian: (516) 825-6422 

Historic Society Black History Month exhibit

The Valley Stream Historical society is hosting its annual Black History Month exhibit on Feb. 16 and Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at the Pagan-Fletcher Restoration at 143 Hendrickson Ave. There will be presentations on the famed WWII Tuskegee airmen fighter pilots, as well as famouse jazz-age musicians. In the groove with Los Lobos

The Tex-Mex influenced rockers bring their lively sound to the Landmark on Main Street stage, on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. The acclaimed band, prides itself on never covering the same ground twice while making music for nearly 50 years.
