The East Meadow Public Library has many fun and interactive events coming up this month. These events are catered to all age groups, from toddlers to adults.

Kicking off the year on Jan. 4, the library will hold a “Lil’ Athletes” event for children from the ages 18 to 36 months. This event will introduce the kids to various sports, and a second event will be held on Jan. 11, for children 3 to 5 years old.

Registration for the events has been open since Thursday, Dec. 21 at 9:30 a.m. The events will both take place in the Children’s Story Hour Room, and there is a 10 and 11 a.m. class on both dates.

Coach Peggy will host a virtual event for the library on Monday, Jan. 8, teaching attendees how to make a new treat, an Apple Berry Tart. This would be perfect for those with a sweet tooth that can’t make up their minds.

The class will be held on zoom at 7 p.m., with a $5 kit available for pickup at the library. Registration opens Monday, Dec. 18 at 9 a.m., with the first week being for East Meadow School District residents only. Those who don’t pick up the kits are still responsible for the $5 fee.

Author and poet Mohena Jeanpierre is coming to East Meadow as a special guest for the “It Came from the Radio” event hosted by Mark Torres on Wednesday, Jan.10.

Jeanpierre will talk about her background and book, titled “Lavi Se Yon Dans,” filled with poetry that are precious, delicate and full of emotion.

The event will take place at 7 p.m., with registration already open.

A teen Super Smash Brothers Tournament will be held on Monday, Jan. 15 for grades 6 to 12. This will be great for any teen gamers looking for competition.

The event will be held in the Young Adult Room, at 2:30 p.m. Registration begins on Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m.

All of these events and more can be found online at EastMeadow.info. Pre-registration information for any required events can also be found on this website. With questions, call (516) 794-2570. The library is located at 1886 Front Street, East Meadow.
