The Locust Valley Central School District's proposed budget for the 2024-25 school year passed Tuesday night, with 904 votes for and only 554 against. Proposition 2, which focused on capital reserve projects for track bleachers, locker room renovations, and roof replacements, among other things, passed with 1,000 votes for and 554 votes against. The proposition, which will cost $3.7 million, will be funded by the $13 million capital reserve.
This year’s budget features a 1.96 percent tax levy increase, adhering to a conservative fiscal approach while addressing the district's critical infrastructure needs. Despite the availability of higher tax levy options, the district opted for a restrained approach to balance student needs with those of taxpayers and stakeholders.
In addition to the budget passing, the evening also saw the reelection of George Vasiliou and Nicholas DellaFera to the Board of Education with 736 and 861 votes respectively, while the third candidate Michael McGlone won only 735 votes.
Proposition 3, the Locust Valley Library Tax Levy, also passed, with 441 votes for and 178 against.
