Michael Sapraicone has been appointed to the board of directors for Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital in Oceanside.

Sapraicone  is the founder and owner of Squad Security, Inc., and a retired NYPD first-grade detective.

“Through his efforts as a member of the hospital’s Advisory Board, Mike has already made significant contributions to Mount Sinai South Nassau’s mission and vision to provide advanced healthcare services to the South Shore,” said Joseph J. Fennessy, chairman of Mount Sinai South Nassau’s board of directors, according to a news release. “His expertise as an entrepreneur and successful business owner and security expert will help us in our strategic planning as we expand services for our communities.”

The members of MSSN’s board of directors are volunteers who lend their professional, private-sector expertise and experience to provide oversight and give input on the hospital’s operations.  Including Sapraicone, there are 22 board members, all of whom actively participate in the hospital’s capital campaigns and serve on various board committees that provide strategic oversight and direction for the hospital functions, including finance, building projects and development.

The hospital board’s Vice Chairman Tony Cancellieri said Sapraicone will be a welcome addition to the board.

“When the hospital is in need, Mike is always one of the first to step up and ask how he can help,” he said, according to a hospital news release. “As a former NYPD detective, he feels a connection to our front-line staff and he always has been very generous with his time and resources.”

One of Sapraicone’s new responsibilities will be to serve as a co-chair of the 2022 hospital golf committee, Cancellieri added.
