The Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center irrevocably changed life for New Yorkers. Parents, siblings, friends and neighbors were lost, leaving families shattered and communities around the world forever affected.
Each year, the promise to “never forget” carries renewed weight — especially for those who witnessed the tragedy and continue to hold its memory close.
Nassau County marked the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, with a special ceremony Sept. 10 at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park. The evening brought together community members, elected officials, first responders, relatives of those who died and other mourners, all renewing the promise to carry forward the memories of those lost.
The memorial in Eisenhower Park remembers the 349 victims from Nassau County.
