The Kiwanis Club of East Meadow flipped pancakes and brought the community together for its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser on March 15, drawing hundreds of residents to the East Meadow High School cafeteria for a morning of food and fun.
Attendees enjoyed a hearty breakfast of pancakes, eggs and sausage, while connecting with neighbors and supporting a longstanding community tradition. The event, now more than 30 years running, remains one of the club’s largest fundraisers, second only to the Steven J. Eisman Memorial Golf Outing.
Funds raised from the breakfast help support Kiwanis scholarships for local high school seniors and send underprivileged children to Kamp Kiwanis, a sleep-away summer camp in Taberg, New York. In addition to the meal, families were treated to special appearances by members of the Star Wars-themed 501st Legion, a perennial crowd favorite.
This year’s event was made possible with support from numerous local sponsors, including Platinum sponsors Leo F. Kearns Funeral Directors, Power Equipment Plus, Grand Stage Diner and Starbucks. Gold sponsors included Coldwell Banker American Homes, Krug Real Estate, Eden II School for Autistic Children, A+C Pest Management, Charles O’Shea Funeral Homes, the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce, United Properties Corp. and The Sunrise of East Meadow.
