Plenty of first-day smiles across the East Meadow School District

Posted

There was no shortage of smiles when classrooms and hallways across the East Meadow School District filled up on Sept. 2 for the first day of the 2026-27 school year.

Teachers and building principals welcomed students with warm greetings, familiar faces and plenty of enthusiasm, while students settled into new classrooms, reconnected with friends and got reacquainted with the routines of school. From eager conversations to bright smiles and plenty of classroom energy, the first day offered plenty of reminders that a new school year is about much more than books and lessons — it’s also about the people who make each school day special.

Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner, along with members of the district’s administration, visited schools throughout the district to welcome students and teachers and share in the excitement of opening day.

Inside classrooms, teachers wasted little time getting students engaged and ready for the year ahead. Whether students were diving into their first lessons, meeting new classmates or simply enjoying being back together, the excitement was easy to see — and even easier to capture.

The opening week brought a wonderful mix of energy, laughter and anticipation to schools throughout East Meadow. If the smiles on the faces of students and teachers are any indication, the district is off to a very happy start to another school year.
