Nassau police said an East Meadow man was arrested last week for allegedly forging gift cards.

According to detectives, during the course of an unrelated investigation in East Meadow, detectives found Theodore Pommells, 25, of Newbridge Road, in possession of 27 assorted gift cards that were deemed suspicious by investigators.

Though investigators could not determine if the gift cards were indeed fraudulent, police said, it was discovered upon investigation by the CAP Squad that they were scanned and re-encoded with credit card numbers.

Detectives said Pommells was arrested outside his home on Feb. 25 in connection with the above description, and was charged with multiple counts of possession of a forged instrument. He was subsequently found to be in possession of an additional 20 re-encoded gift cards, police said.

The defendant was arraigned in First District Court on Feb. 26, court records showed, and was ordered held on $1,000 bond or $500 cash. According to court records, he appeared again on March 2 and a judge continued the bail conditions and scheduled another court date for April 13.
