Police: man set restaurant on fire

The Arson Bomb Squad reported the arrest of two defendants for Arson and Burglary in East Meadow on Aug. 15.
   
According to detectives, defendant John Orlando, 59, of  Bayshore, broke a window and entered the Johnny Fives Bar and Grill on 2172 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow. While inside he proceeded to destroy the restaurant and set several small fires, police said. The second defendant is James Byrne, 41, a homeless man also entered the same location and stole a bottle of liquor, police said. Orlando was charged with Arson 3rd, and Burglary 3rd and was arraigned in First District Court on Aug. 20. Byrne was charged with Burglary 3rd and was arraigned in First District Court on Aug. 19.
