Taylor Raynor, a Democrat from Uniondale, trounced Republican James Lamarre, of Lakeville, in the 18th Assembly District in Tuesday’s election. Raynor, who beat longtime Assemblywoman Earlene Hooper in the September Democratic primary, earned 86 percent of the vote to Lamarre’s 9.
State Sen. John Brooks, of Seaford, defeated Republican Jeff Pravato to win a second term in the 8th Senate District, earning 53 percent of the vote to Pravato’s 47.
Democrat Judy Griffin upset Assemblyman Brian Curran, a Republican from Lynbrook, in the 21st A.D. Griffin, a Rockville Centre community activist and former director of community outreach for State Sen. Todd Kaminsky, took 53 percent of the vote to unseat Curran.
