Separate altercations reported at two E.M. bars

Suspect nabbed for attacking security guard

   
Police arrested a 20-year-old early Tuesday morning and accused him of assaulting an employee at an East Meadow bar on Feb. 26.
   

The victim, 40, who was working security at the R.C. Dugan’s on Feb. 26 at about 1:53 a.m., denied entry to four individuals because they were underage, police said. According to detectives, he defendant, Thomas L. King, Jr., 20, of Lynbrook, became enraged and fought with the victim, stabbing and slashing him several times in the face, head, throat and abdomen, causing severe physical injury. Police said King ran from the scene and left with the three other individuals in a dark-colored automobile.
   
After an investigation, King was arrested at his Lynbrook home by 1st Precinct detectives, with assistance from the Bureau of Special Operations and the Lynbrook Police Department. He was charged with assault 1st degree and possession of a dangerous weapon 4th degree, police said. The defendant was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court, Hempstead.

Police: N. Bellmore man brought shotgun into tavern

   
A North Bellmore man was arrested in the early morning hours of March 5, shortly after police said he returned to an East Meadow bar with a shotgun and menaced the manager and bar patrons at about 1:20 a.m.
   
According to detectives, the defendant, Peter Klym, 50, became involved in a dispute with another unknown person at Jake's Tavern on Newbridge Road at about 10:50 p.m. on March 4. Officers responded to that location, but the defendant and the other party had left the bar, police said.
   
Klym then apparently returned to the bar at 1:20 a.m. armed with a shotgun, police said. He was later located through DMV records, and an arrest was made without incident. There were no injuries reported. According to court records, he was arraigned on March 6, and ordered held on bail set at $30,000 cash or $15,000 bond. Court records also show that Klym also faces other separate charges, including a case where he pled guilty for criminal possession of a weapon.
