So long, winter

First day of spring on Sunday, a week after a vicious storm hit area

Eisenhower Park in East Meadow was buzzing on Friday as people flocked to the fields to play ball, the golf course to tee off and open areas to enjoy a picnic or to simply soak in the sun.

What a difference a week makes — last weekend, East Meadow residents braced a vicious nor'easter that swept the region and resulted in downed trees and power lines.

Temperatures on Saturday were expected to rise to near 70 degrees. On the first day of spring, however, rain was in the forecast, with a temperature in the upper 50s.
