Three incumbents running unopposed for School Board

Three incumbents are running uncontested for reelection to the East Meadow School District’s Board of Education. Board President Joseph Parisi, Jeffrey Rosenking, and Marcee Rubinstein, who all currently serve on the board, are each seeking three-year terms during this year’s election.

Residents can vote for the trustee election at the same time they vote for the school’s budget, on Tuesday, May 21, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the local district elementary schools.

Here is a description of the candidates, complete with their educational backgrounds, career information, family and history of community involvement.

Joseph Parisi

Joseph Parisi has lived in East Meadow for the last 30 years. He became a trustee on the East Meadow School District’s Board of Education in 2005, serving a two-year term. Following a trustee’s resignation in 2009, he was reappointed to the board to serve out the term. Upon his reelection in 2011, Parisi became the board’s vice president, and then was elected to president in 2012, a position he has held since.

Parisi and his wife Grace have four children, three of whom are graduates of the East Meadow High School District, and one who is still in the district.

Community involvement: Parisi is the president of the Council of East Meadow Community Organizations. He has also been involved with East Meadow Boy Scout Troop 362, serving as committee chairman and Scoutmaster.

Education and career: Parisi received his undergraduate degree in economics and political science from St John’s University. He began his career working in finance, and returned to St John’s to obtain his Master’s Degree in business administration with a concentration in finance. Parisi had worked in large financial institutions throughout his career and currently serves as a director at Citibank with a functional role as a Technology Application Development Senior Group Manager.

Jeffrey Rosenking

A district resident for 19 years, Jeffrey Rosenking and wife Carol and have two daughters within the East Meadow School District. He is completing his first term as trustee, having served on the Board of Education since 2010.
