Unofficial election results Tuesday night pointed to a Democratic-leaning trend across several key races affecting Lynbrook and East Rockaway, as Democrats claimed victories in congressional, state and local contests while Republicans held onto some seats in the State Assembly and Nassau County Legislature.

In New York's 4th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Laura Gillen appeared to secure re-election, defeating Republican challenger Jeanine Driscoll. Gillen campaigned on lowering costs for Long Island families, improving infrastructure and public safety, and working across party lines.

“I promise each and every one of you that I will continue to work with anyone and stand up to anyone to make life better and bring down the costs for Nassau County,” Gillen said in her election night victory speech.

Democrats also appeared to make gains in the Town of Hempstead, where Joe Scianablo defeated Republican incumbent John Ferretti in the race for town supervisor. Scianablo, a veteran, former New York City police officer and attorney, campaigned on reducing government spending, improving transparency and investing in infrastructure.

“No level of government succeeds alone,” Scianablo said. “I'm willing to work with Independents, Republicans, Democrats, of course, state, county, federal level partners to bring much-needed resources back to the Town of Hempstead.”

At the state level, Democrat Lisa “Malkie” Vider appeared to unseat Republican incumbent Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick in the 9th Senate District, campaigning on affordability, education and reproductive rights.

Republican Assemblyman Ari Brown appeared to win re-election in the 20th Assembly District, which includes East Rockaway, defeating Democrat Meir Fischer. Brown campaigned on lowering taxes, strengthening public safety and opposing state housing mandates.

In the 21st Assembly District, which includes Lynbrook, Democratic Assemblywoman Judy Griffin appeared to secure another term over Republican Irene Villacci. Griffin campaigned on affordability, public education and securing funding for local communities.

In Nassau County's 14th Legislative District, Democratic incumbent Cynthia Nuñez appeared to win re-election over Republican Anthony Capone. Nuñez campaigned on addressing flooding and drainage concerns, strengthening public safety and securing funding for local services.

“I am feeling really invigorated for my community,” Nuñez said following her apparent victory. “I want to continue bringing government into the community.”

Republican Nassau County Legislator Howard Kopel also appeared to retain his seat in the 7th Legislative District, defeating Democrat Douglas Segan. Kopel campaigned on controlling county spending, public safety and infrastructure improvements.

All election results remained unofficial as of Tuesday night.
