East Rockaway continues search for new Rhame Avenue principal

The East Rockaway School District is moving forward with its search for a new principal at Rhame Avenue Elementary School, with district officials continuing to seek input from parents and the school community.

Superintendent James DeTommaso said during the Board of Education’s Sept. 15 work session that the district had entered the third round of the search process and had already held several meetings for parents to share what they would like to see in the school’s next principal.

Another opportunity for parents to provide feedback was scheduled during the school’s PTA meeting, and the district also distributed a survey for those unable to attend the meetings.

“We’d love to have as much input from the community as possible,” DeTommaso said.

While the superintendent did not provide a timeline for selecting the new principal, he said the search had produced promising applicants.

“We have some very, very, very strong candidates that I’m excited about,” DeTommaso said, adding that additional information would be shared at future meetings.
