Lynbrook Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Lynch will retire at the end of the 2026-27 school year, concluding nearly two decades with the Lynbrook Public Schools.

The Board of Education formally accepted Lynch’s retirement, effective June 30, 2027. Lynch has served as superintendent for the past three years after holding other leadership positions in the district since joining Lynbrook in 2009.

“While we have the privilege of continuing to work alongside Dr. Lynch throughout this school year, tonight’s action provides an opportunity to recognize his remarkable service to the Lynbrook Public Schools,” Board President Lesli Deninno said. “We are deeply grateful for his dedication, leadership and service. His impact on this district will be felt long after his retirement.”

During his time as superintendent, Lynch helped lead the development and implementation of the district’s Profile of the Owl, a framework focused on preparing students with skills and values in areas including creative and critical thinking, real-life skills, social-emotional learning and global citizenship.

“When I came to Lynbrook in 2009, I was told this community would become a second home, and after 17 years, I know that could not be more true,” Lynch said. “It has been an incredible privilege to serve Lynbrook’s students, staff, families and residents.”

Lynch said he is particularly proud of the district’s work on the Profile of the Owl and will remain focused on leading the district through his final school year.

“While I am looking forward to retirement, I remain fully committed to serving this community throughout the year ahead and working closely with the board of education to ensure a thoughtful and seamless leadership transition,” he said.

The Board of Education plans to conduct a search for Lynch’s successor and said it will keep residents informed and involved throughout the process.
