More than $2,200 was raised for the 2019 Senior Night, the after-prom party at Dave and Busters, at the first-ever Hewlett-Woodmere public schools staff volleyball championship. The event attracted roughly 500 people who saw the Hewlett High School staff go undefeated and capture first place on Feb. 28. Michelle Morgan, a member of the Hewlett High PTA Senior Committee, spearheaded the event. more
The Hewlett High School’s robotics teams completed another successful season. Team 3540, Roboboogie, which is the school’s original robotics team, is the No. 1 team on Long Island for the Motivate Award, which is awarded to the team that best embraces the culture of FIRST — For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. Team 7120, Bionica is the top team on Long Island for the Connect Award, which is given to the team that most connects with their STEM — science, technology, engineering and math — community. more

Hewlett High School students and faculty gathered in the gymnasium for Hewlett’s annual Sports Night on March 4. The event, organized by the Student Council, is held in memory of Adam Barsel, a Hewlett High sophomore who died in a 2000 car accident. His mother, Rhonda Barsel, is a former physical education teacher at Hewlett and a current substitute teacher at Hewlett. more
Hewlett High School’s Virtual Enterprise program has two virtual businesses this school year and both — Comforting Canines and Natural Atmosphere Promoting Relaxation — qualified for the Long Island Business Plan finals in Holbrook on Feb. 26. more
