Lawrence High School will reopen on April 3, the day students return from spring break, in the meantime electrical power will be restored to the entire school in about a week, Superintendent Gary Schall said.

Concern and confusion were the most common reactions during the first week of a district-wide relocation after Lawrence High School closed on Jan. 16 due to damage to its electrical system caused by Hurricane Sandy. The shut down of Lawrence High School due to Hurricane Sandy-related damage has not only resulted in the displacement of high school students to the middle schools and the fifth- and sixth-grade middle school students to the Number Five and Two schools, respectively, but has caused problems for the winter sports teams.

Hurricane Sandy continues to have serious impacts on the Five Towns. Lawrence High School must close for the next eight weeks to repair its electrical system that was severely damaged by the Oct. 29th storm. Approximately 975 students will be attending the district’s middle school during that time, causing other students in the district to be displaced as well.
