Dina M. Anzalone has been appointed the new principal of Ogden Elementary School. Anzalone was officially approved by the Board of Education at its monthly meeting on March 28. She will succeed Joan Biringer-Haig, who is retiring. more

The St. Catherine of Sienna School in Franklin Square and Sacred Heart Elementary School in North Merrick are among four Catholic schools in Nassau County that will close next June due to dwindling enrollment and funding. Bishop William Murphy of the Diocese of Rockville Centre announced the news on Dec. 5, in a public letter that is posted on the diocese’s website. more
