Arnold Rosenbaum, a former VP of Gimbels, dies at 83

Arnold Rosenbaum of Lawrence passed away on Sept. 30. He was 83.

A 55-year Five Towns resident, Rosenbaum was born in Brooklyn and received his Bachelors of Arts from Syracuse University before becoming vice president of the now defunct Gimbels Department Store in New York City.

Rosenbaum’s local civic activity extended to his involvement with the Lawrence Tennis Club, where he was a past president, and the Peninsula Public Library in Lawrence. He was also a member of the Personal Enrichment In Retirement (PEIR) group at Hofstra University.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, children Andrew, Michele, Amy and Cliff and grandchildren Adam, Julie, Jonathan and Katie.

Services were held on Oct. 2 at Boulevard Riverside Chapels in Hewlett and Rosenbaum was interred at Knollwood Park Cemetery in Queens.
