Under his guidance, the village attained zoning power, enhanced protecting its shoreline and maintained a strong hold on its finances. At the dinner, Mahler became an honorary member of the Atlantic Beach Rescue Squad and was given proclamations and citations and a sign that noted his years as the village’s mayor.
