Church members honored with St. Agnes medal

Anthony and Ellen Cascardi parishioners of St. Joachim’s Church in Cedarhurst, Ellen McCaffrey a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Hewlett and Maureen O’Loughlin who attends Our Lady of Counsel Church in Inwood were all awarded the St. Agnes Medal of Service by Archdiocese of Rockville Centre Bishop William Murphy during a ceremony at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre on Nov. 20.

The service medal is in recognition of those individual who generously volunteer their time to their parish. They are considered the “unsung heroes in our midst who build our parish communities by extraordinary service,” Diocese officials wrote in the booklet from that Sunday’s program.
