An unoccupied boat that had come loose from its docking slip at the back of a home in the Harbor view section of Lawrence was retrieved by firefighters and police officers on Saturday.

At 9:05 a.m., the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department and Nassau County police were notified of a possible boat in distress in the water to the rear of the Lawrence Yacht and Country Club.

Firefighters and police found the boat in the water near the 18th hole of the country club’s golf course. It had hit the rocks and was in the marsh area.

There was no one onboard. Marine 5 – a Nassau police boat – towed the boat back to its slip, where it was secured. There were no injuries, officials on the scene said.
