The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the South Shore of Nassau County from 7 to 11 p.m. based on a forecast that tides could be 1 to 1.5-feet above normal.

In preparation for the high tides forecast, the Village of Cedarhurst has already began cleaning the storm drains in and around the flood prone, low lying areas of the village.

To avoid flood damage to cars, Mayor Benjamin Weinstock and the board said that residents in the low lying areas can park their vehicles behind Village Hall at 200 Cedarhurst Ave.

Please make sure to leave a note on the dashboard, stating your name and address and “PARKED DUE TO FLOODING CONDITIONS."
