The Hewlett and Woodmere communities joined together for what has now become an annual tradition, the lighting of a Christmas tree at the Hewlett Veterans Plaza at the intersection of Broadway and West Broadway in Hewlett.

On Dec. 4, there was caroling, candy canes, hot chocolate and giveaways for the kids. The Hewlett Fire Department contacted Santa Claus and gave him a lift to the festivities.
