Congregation Sons of Israel in Woodmere held one of its semi-annual blood drives from 3 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 15.

Held in conjunction with the Irving Place Minyan, the drive collected 31 units, according to Karen Boxer, one of the event’s organizers.

Blood donors also received a pair of tickets to a Mets game. Boxer said, that people came out despite the violent rainstorm that day. “It was very heart warming to see people come out,” said Boxer, who added the event was advertised as a “pair for a pint.”
