Voters approved the proposed $5.6 million Hewlett-Woodmere Library budget Tuesday night 260-85.

The passed budget includes a 2.89 percent tax levy, the amount to be raised through local property taxes. The budget proposal includes an additional $7,750 for cultural programs.

"Everyone here is pleased that the budget passed," said Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library Director Susan de Sciora. "We look forward to the next year serving the community."

Voters also re-elected Hewlett-Woodmere Library incumbent trustee Donald Davidson, who ran unopposed, with 280 votes.
