Inwood essential workers parade on May 24

Lawrence to hold Memorial Day ceremony

On May 24, the Five Towns will show its appreciation for essential workers with a parade on Sunday, May 24, the day typically reserved for the annual Inwood Memorial Day parade.

Parade line up begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Inwood Long Island Rail Road station on Doughty Boulevard. The procession will start on Doughty Boulevard at 10 a.m., and proceeds to Mott Avenue. Everyone must remain in their vehicles. The parade ends at Mott Avenue and from there everyone leaves.

Please make signs and banners that thank all essenial wtorkers, the volunteer Inwood Fire Department, Sanitary District 1 and the military veterans of the Veterans of Foreign Wars-American Legion Post  339.

On Monday, May 25, Memorial Day, Lawrence village will hold a ceremony at 9 a.m. at Zion Park. Only 10 people or less are permitted to gather per Gov. Andrew Cuomo's mandate based on CDC guidelines.
