Tasha Partee, a teacher at Lawrence Woodmere Academy in Woodmere, was one of the two winners of the 2019 Inspiring Teacher Award presented by the Jimmy Awards, named in honor of James M. Nederlander, a theater owner and Broadway producer, who died in 2016. The teachers were chosen based on their encouragement and inspiration they showed while leading their students to win the Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor or Actress. Lawrence Woodmere Academy junior Andrew Feldman, currently the lead in the Broadway show “Dear Evan Hansen,” won the 2018 Jimmy for Best Performance by an Actor representing the Roger Rees Award for Excellence in Student Performance. Matthew Hinson, a teacher at the Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, was the other winner. His student, Reneé Rapp, captured the 2018 Jimmy for Best Performance by an Actress. The 11th annual awards ceremony is on Monday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m., at the Minskoff Theater, at 200 West 45th St., in Manhattan.
