Melvin Deleon, 35, of Freeport, was arrested in connection with the fatal vehicular accident that occurred on Dec. 12 in North Lawrence.
Esmeralda Larios-Perez, 34, of Inwood was crossing Burnside Avenue in Inwood walking northbound at Washington Place at 7:22 p.m. when she was struck by Deleon’s vehicle failing to stop. He fled the scene, police said.
Larios-Perez suffered severe trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deleon is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 31, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
