Humanitarian and leadership award recipients, along with 11 local mayors, were all recognized at the Peninsula Counseling Center’s annual fundraiser, “A Tasteful Evening,” held at the Seawane Club on Oct. 20.
More than 30 local restaurants were featured at the event, along with bakeries, wineries and floral arrangement shops.
A partnership between PCC and another health services organization, the Promoting Special Care and Health (PSCH), was recently formed. PSCH is affiliated with North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital.
Retiring Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg (D-Long Beach) received the Humanitarian Award, and the Baum-Wachs family received the Appreciation Award. Outstanding Leadership Awards were given to mayors of the Five Towns villages, along with Valley Stream, Lynbrook, East Rockaway and Rockville Centre.
The recent partnership will serve the community with a wider range of services, according to Lois Goldsmith, PCC’s executive director. “Our collaboration with PSCH will expand our range of behavior health services for children and adults,” she said. “We also plan to collaborate with the community to identify areas of need and developing programs to meet those needs as well. We look forward to our 102nd year as an important and significant year.”
