A celebration of a saint that originated in Italy continues in Inwood with the two-day Santa Marina Feast in Inwood that this year took place on July 14 and 15.
This year’s feast was the second after the two-year Covid hiatus and featured attractions, beverages, musical entertainment, food, games and rides.
The Santa Marina Society along with Our Lady of Good Counsel Church organize the festival. The society, a religious organization established in 1921 by Italian immigrants from Filandari, a small town in the Calabria region of Italy.
Santa Marina, or Saint Marina Vergine, Filandari’s patron saint is also celebrated with a morning Mass on the second day of the feast.
