The Sephardic Temple chapter of AMIT will recognize the long-term volunteer efforts of longtime members Trudy and Richard Franco at a luncheon on May 17. The Wantagh residents have spent every Shabbos morning for 40 years at the Cedarhurst synagogue, except for the four months out of the year they are in Florida.

Married 52 years ago, by Rabbi Arnold Marans, the spiritual leader of the Sephardic Temple on Branch Boulevard, both Ashkenazi (Richard) and Sephardic (Trudy) customs have incorporated into their family traditions.

Members of several organization, the Francos became involved AMIT through the temple, and were moved by the group’s mission of helping to provide children in Israel with the educational tools to build their self-esteem and succeed in life.
