With frigid temperatures, Nassau County opens warming centers

With temperatures plunging into the single digits, Nassau County is opening the following warming centers:

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays

The Nassau County Winter Homeless Hotline - (866) WARMBED - is open and will run seven days a week through March 31. Between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and Friday from 6 p.m. through Monday at 8 a.m., employees from the Department of Social Services will make appropriate referrals and provide shelter placement. Between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, call the Department of Social Services at (516) 227-8519.
