A Yonkers man who allegedly tried to scam a Five Towns resident out of $6,000 was arrested by Nassau County police on June 28, police said.

The resident, 82, was allegedly contacted by telephone by the man who claimed to know who previously scammed the resident and he wanted to be paid for this information, according to police.

Detectives from the Major Case Squad initiated what they called an “undercover operation,” on June 27, and on Sunday and Monday they spoke with the man. On June 28, a meeting was arranged and the resident was told to bring the money.

At 3:15 p.m., Milyone G. Clariot, 21, of  Landscape Avenue in Yonkers, arrived at the corner of 775 Branch Blvd., in Cedarhurst, to pick up the money. Clariot was then brought to the 4th Precinct in Hewlett for a further investigation and was arrested.

He is charged with third-degree grand larceny and issued an appearance ticket.
